What stays on your computer

Your books stay in your browser and in your own Canva account. That means the idea, the brief, the story, the prompts, the pictures and the character reference images. They are not sent to us.

The extension sends your prompts and pictures straight to the AI website you choose (ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok), in your own signed-in account, and places the results in Canva. Those requests go from your browser to those websites. They do not pass through our servers.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
• Purchase details: whether you bought Semu, and when. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see them.
• Usage counts: how many pictures you made and edited with Semu, to run the free trial. Never your words or pictures.
• Technical data: which browsers you are signed in on, and short error reports from the extension, with your book's content removed. You can turn error reports off in the extension's Settings.
• What you choose to send us: feedback, answers to our short questions, and your email if you join a waiting list. All optional.

Why we use it

To run your account and your purchase, to fix problems, to answer you, and to improve Semu. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who helps us

We use a few trusted service providers to run Semu: hosting and database, email delivery, and payments. Our payment provider sells Semu to you and handles payment and tax. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your email, name and picture with us. Each provider gets only what it needs to do its job. Our servers are in the United States.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. A demo video, when there is one, is played from YouTube only after you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

How long we keep it

We keep your account for as long as you have it. Error reports are deleted after 90 days. Purchase records may be kept longer where the law requires it. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data, except what we must keep by law.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account, by writing to support@semuai.com. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes the books it saved in your browser. Error reports can be turned off in the extension's Settings.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
